The new 2024 Apple Mac Mini with the M4 chip brings significant improvements in performance, design, and connectivity. The M4 chip features a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, offering approximately 1.8 times faster CPU performance and 2.2 times faster GPU performance compared to the M1 chip. For more intensive tasks, the M4 Pro variant is available, with options for up to a 14-core CPU and a 20-core GPU, supporting enhanced graphics capabilities like ray tracing for realistic lighting effects—a first for the Mac Mini.
The redesigned Mac Mini now measures only five by five inches, making it Apple’s smallest Mac yet. This new form factor also includes two front-facing USB-C ports for easier access and Thunderbolt 5 compatibility, supporting high-speed data transfer and external device connectivity.
In terms of memory, the base M4 model starts with 16 GB of RAM (double the previous generation) and can be configured with up to 32 GB, while the M4 Pro variant supports up to 64 GB, catering to power users who need extensive multitasking capability.
Display support has also been upgraded, with the M4 supporting up to two 6K monitors and one 5K display, while the M4 Pro can handle up to three 6K displays, allowing for high-resolution, multi-monitor setups
Overall, the 2024 Mac Mini offers a powerful option for users needing a compact desktop, with major boosts in processing power, graphics, and connectivity options.
